BAYLOR BOUND
honest advice from honestly nice people
We made it! Four years of classes, and papers, and studying, and tests. If you’re from the South, four years of those Friday Night Lights. Four years of walking the halls with your best friend. Four long years, and we finally walked that stage. Moved the tassel. And threw our caps in the air. What. A. Feeling. We are college students now - each of us going off to discover a new corner of the world, and to make a new place our home. When you’ve walked the same halls, and sat in the same classrooms for the last four years - that’s kinda scary. Some of us will go to far off places, and some of us will stay close to home. Some of us will walk out of these doors and never look back, and others of us will peer in every now and again. We are no longer defined by our high school identities. The fact that you were the quarterback of the football team, or the NHS President, or valedictorian, or [insert accomplishment here] - doesn’t matter anymore. We have the chance to reinvent ourselves - so let’s do it! While we are no longer trapped in the metaphorical box of high school, we still remember who we were then. And I’m here to tell you that the person you were then? Will always be a part of who you are. Those late night study sessions cramming for your Physics test. The “closest basketball game ever!” Those awful essays from that crabby English teacher (every high school has one of those). That one B you got in Algebra II. The memories of laughing with your best friends. These will stay with you - no matter how far you go. They’ll always be a part of who you are. We’re going to meet new people, make new friends, hate different professors, and create new memories - but bits and pieces of high school stay with you wherever you go. There is one thing that no one can take away from you though - you’ll always be a member of the class of 2017. So, graduates, we did it - now it’s time to get ready for the next four years.
